Dear SSCA,

We have found a pleasant alternative to the hustle and bustle of St. George’s, the sometimes uncomfortable and often crowded Prickly Bay, and the isolated Hog Island. It is Clarkes Court Bay on the South coast of Grenada. We had over looked this anchorage on our last visit because of a tricky looking un-buoyed entrance. The insistence of our friends John and Deb Gerber on Sea Witch that we needed to visit the " new marina" compelled us to brave the entrance. To our surprise, there were uncharted red and green buoys guiding our way in. We used our waypoint of 11 degrees, 59.26 N, 061 degrees, 43.71 W to begin our approach and just followed the buoys from there, making it a very easy task to enter. We were delighted to find a huge, well-protected bay with many anchoring possibilities. As we worked our way to the back, we Spotted Sea Witch tied to a new floating dock, which had-24 large finger slips. The waters were so calm; we were reminded of our old slip back in beautiful Lake Stockton, an inland Lake in Missouri.

We anchored in 12 feet of water just off the marina docks and dinked in to enjoy a sailor's reunion with our friends. They took us up to meet Bob Blanc, the owner. We were greeted with warm welcome, cod drinks, and were given a tour.. The slips are in the process of getting water and electricity. A beautiful bar designed by Bob himself greets you as you step off the dock and will probably become the focus of many social activities in this bay. Washrooms and showers are beautiful and clean. The laundry room is in the process and more slips are planned. Fuel, pump out, chandlery, dry storage, and “boatel” style rooms are all in the works to make this a truly worthwhile stop. Reasonably priced bus service is available to meet our transportation needs and security is provided.

We were invited to move Happy Ours to one of the slips for a couple of days and were surprised to find 11 foot water depth more than half way in from the end of the dock.

Contact. Bob at 473-439-2593 or email (grencana@caribsurf.com) to obtain Clarkes Court Bay Marina information. The mail address: P.O. Box 185, St George's, Grenada, West Indies.
